## Overview

Paperclip’s You.com MCP connector gives your AI agents web search and page extraction tools. Each tool can be Allowed, Ask first or Off.

Search the web or news, extract page content and find the right You.com API. The free option needs no API key and allows you-search and you-discover, with 100 queries per day.

## How to connect You.com

These setup instructions follow the documentation. They have not been tested with a live connection.

1. In Paperclip, open Connectors and select You.com.
2. On the Access step, choose the identity and which agents may use the connection.
3. Choose Sign in with You.com, Use an API key or Use the free profile. Complete sign-in, paste a platform key or continue without credentials, then review the available actions.

You.com provides web search, page extraction, account balance and API discovery tools. The free option includes search and discovery only. Your connection method, provider access and action permissions determine what agents can use.

These lists use a conservative permission policy. Read requires a provider read-only hint or a reviewed Paperclip read rule. Evidence that an action changes data or submits information elsewhere puts it in Write. Write also includes actions we cannot verify as read-only. Read describes the reviewed evidence; it does not guarantee that an action has no side effects. A connected account can group actions differently.

The provider export supplies six tool names without descriptions. The descriptions shown here are website summaries based on You.com’s documentation. The default endpoint omits research and finance; the free profile exposes search and discover only. Headers or query settings can change the list. No connected account was tested.

### Connection policies

Discovered actions follow the connection’s policies. Review their permissions and set actions to Ask first or Off as needed. Use the product server, not the separate documentation-search endpoint.

### Can I require approval for actions?

Set an action to Ask first to require human approval of each call or Off to prevent calls. Allowed actions run without approval. Read and Write grouping is separate from these settings.

### What can agents reach in You.com?

Agents can search the web, extract page content and discover You.com APIs when your connection allows them. The free option includes search and discovery, with 100 queries per day. Search terms and requested URLs are sent to You.com.

### What do I need before connecting?
